great choices, and in my family, we : celebrate half birthdays not with gifts, but favorite foods, have a night picnic to watch the the 4th of July fireworks, and all make a biiiiig breakfast together on christmas morning

When my daughters both lived nearby we would go on a skiing trip together for a few days. Lots of fun.
